Weight Loss Results – Wegovy 2.5x Superior

Clinical studies have found both Wegovy and Rybelsus effective for weight loss, but the magnitude differs substantially. While Rybelsus is not formally FDA-approved for weight loss, it is often used off-label to help patients lose weight. Higher doses of oral semaglutide (25 mg and 50 mg) are currently being studied in the OASIS and PIONEER PLUS programs and have shown significantly greater results-up to 15-17% body weight reduction-which could eventually match the effectiveness of Wegovy for weight loss.

Side Effects – Identical GI Profile

Rybelsus and Wegovy can cause gastrointestinal side effects such as nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and constipation. Switching Between Rybelsus and Wegovy: Protocol

When switching from Rybelsus to Wegovy, most providers will start the patient at the beginning of Wegovy’s titration schedule (0.25 mg weekly) on the day after the last Rybelsus dose. 

When switching from Wegovy to Rybelsus, the patient typically starts at 3 mg daily on the day after the last Wegovy injection. Because both medications share the same mechanism of action, crossover gastrointestinal effects tend to be minimal.
